Link To More Than Just Your Homepage
You know that you need links to your site in order to achieve high rankings in the search engines. But where your links point to is just as important as how many links to get. If all of your links are pointed to your homepage you could be fighting an uphill battle and putting all of your eggs in one basket.
To do a search engine optimization campaign properly you need to try to target more than one keyword phrase. Your homepage can be focused on a couple of phrases but you should have other pages on your site that target your other terms. as you search for links you should use the same strategy.
Have a few links that point to your home page and spread the rest out to your other pages. This gives each page on your site the opportunity to rank for a particular keyword phrase. If you had only 5 visitors per day to your site that might not seem like much, however multiply that by ten pages and that could be equal over 1,500 visitors every month.
Keep in mind that each of these pages are landing pages or entry ways into your site so make sure that visitors can easily find what they are looking for.
Here are some other ways you can use deep linking:
1. Sub-pages on your site that other sites link to can be linking opportunities for you. Keywords on these pages can link to other pages on your site. Links from pages within your site also count in search engine rankings.
2. Many sub-pages on your site that target relatively non-competitive keyword phrases can add up to significant amounts of traffic especially for new sites that have trouble ranking for more high profile terms.
3. Deep linking is just another important part of an overall search engine optimization strategy.
